KAYA TOAST BREAKFAST
 |
Kaya, or coconut
jam, is prepared with eggs, coconut milk and perfumed
with pandan leave (or screwpine leaves). This typical
Singapore-style breakfast (a scrumptious wafer-thin sandwiched
with slabs of thick homemade kaya and melting chunks of
butter ) is still being prepared the old fashion way -
toasting the soft brown bread over the charcoal grill
and scraping off the burnt surface with a knife before
slapping on the kaya and butter. There is also coffee
in old
fashioned cups with deep saucers and soft-boiled eggs |
