2008 FORMULA 1™ SINGTEL SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX

 

Already billed as one of the most dramatic and atmospheric races on the calendar, the 2008 FORMULA 1™ SingTel Singapore Grand Prix will debut on an exhilarating street circuit in the very heart of downtown Singapore. The event has already confirmed its place in the history books as FORMULA ONE™’s first race to be held night and its first street race in Asia.

The 5.067km long street circuit offers multiple overtaking opportunities and challenging turns as the drivers tackle the circuit in speeds in excess of 300kph. Located at Marina Bay, the circuit is just minutes from exclusive 5-star hotels, a vibrant food and entertainment scene, a fast and efficient underground transit system and the Central Business District.

Tiger LIVE

TigerLIVE is a state-of-the-art, multi-sensory brand experience centre that takes visitors on a tour through Singapore’s vibrant history. Focusing on the rich heritage of one of Singapore’s most internationally recognised brands, TigerLIVE traces the growth of Tiger from its early beginnings in the 1930s, through the difficult years of the Second World War and to modern times with its emergence as a world acclaimed local brand and winner of numerous international awards.

TigerLIVE features a sequence of six specially-created experiences designed to keep visitors enthralled on an interactive educational tour lasting around 45 minutes. Among the attractions are a dramatic look back at the very beginnings of beer brewing, a journey through significant milestones in Singapore’s history (set against the nostalgic backdrop of Asia Pacific Breweries’ old Alexandra brewery), a spectacular 4D animation show detailing the process by which beer is brewed and a hands-on bar experience where visitors learn the fine art of tapping and serving a perfectly chilled glass of Tiger beer.

Occupying over 14,000 square feet, TigerLIVE is the only daytime attraction in Singapore’s largest entertainment complex, St James Power Station.

HOTEL UPGRADING
 


MERITUS MANDARIN

The Grand Tower Lobby will be closed permanently from 1 Oct 2008 as part of the renovation works for the upcoming Mandarin Gallery. Guest check-in will be located to brand new lobby at the South Tower instead. Breakfast will be served at Chatterbox (Level 38/39,Grand Tower) and the Mandarin ballroom (Level 6, South Tower)

Other areas which will be closed include swimming pool, the F&B outlets-Meze Bar, Triple 3 and the function rooms- Mandarin Court and Belvedere.



RENDEZVOUS HOTEL SINGAPORE


Starting from 1 August 2008 to 21 Sept 2008 there will be some essential upgrading works at Straits café @Rendezvous on the lobby level of the hotel.

The upgrading exercise will be carried out Monday to Friday from 10am to 6pm and Sat from 10am to 4pm. Meanwhile, the Strait café@ Rendezvous will be relocated to the Merevale 1 ballroom located at level 3 at the vicinity block of the hotel where guest can continue to enjoy their meals.



RIVER VIEW HOTEL
SINGAPORE


The hotel lobby will be closed for upgrading works, meanwhile guests can visit the River garden Coffee House that serves a wide range of beverages and snacks round the clock.

The River Palace Chinese Restaurant on the 2nd level has been schedule for a facelift at the end of July. However, guests can still enjoy Sichuan/Chinese cuisine in the function rooms at level 2.

The expected completion date for both lobby lounge and River Palace Chinese Restaurant will be in late August 2008.



THE SENTOSA RESORT AND SPA

The Pavilion will be undergoing a refurbishment from 30 September 2008 till mid November 2008.

For drinks and cocktails, please visit The Terrace where have an alfresco glass-roofed section with panoramic views of the South China Sea.



THE FULLERTON HOTEL

The hotel outdoor swimming pool will be undergoing maintenance work from Monday to Wednesday, 8 to 10 September 2008. During this period, swimming pool will be closed.

PUCCINI'S TURANDOT

Set in the Forbidden City of Beijing, Puccini's final masterpiece tells the compelling story of the beautiful yet ruthless princess whose suitors must answer three riddles or perish. When a daring young prince resolves to win her, he unleashes a gripping test of sacrifice, loyalty and love. Be enchanted by Puccini's memorable and glorious melodies and the famous aria Nessum Dorma. Sung in Italian with English and Chinese surtitles, this Singapore premiere will be performed by an international cast, the SLO Chorus and Children's Choir and the Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Maestro Tsung Yeh.

Delegates to ITB Asia can now learn more with the three-in-one event deal.

 
The inaugural ITB Asia, taking place from 22 to 24 October 2008 in Singapore, has signed partnerships with three specialist travel trade events that will give delegates the chance to attend all four events in just one trip to Singapore.

Within four days, in the same location at Suntec Singapore, delegates can attend a travel distribution, marketing and technology event, a corporate travel event, a MICE event, and a general travel trade show and convention:

• The main event is ITB Asia which will take place from 22 to 24 October 2008

• The ITB Asia Convention, where the latest travel industry issues and trends are discussed, takes place on the mornings of 23 and 24 October 2008.

• The Web in Travel (WIT) event will take place on 21 and 22 October 2008.
