Shopping

Shopping is one of the greatest pleasures in Singapore. Part of the fun is the excellent buys and great variety of shops all over the island. Delight in a bargain at a little neighbourhood shop, pick up a quaint item or two as you stroll through colourful ethnic quarters, discover favourite buys of the droves who flock to our modern malls or be enthralled by the splendour of whole shopping "cities" selling everything under the sun.

It features wide, open spaces for waterfront relaxation and entertainment, and a full calendar of exciting festivals and events that will draw both locals and foreign visitors. ORCHARD ROAD
Orchard Road is the main shopping strip, with international fashion labels in Palais Renaissance, Forum The Shopping Mall,Hilton Shopping Gallery, Ngee Ann City and The Paragon. But it's not all high-end buys. The Heeren shops and Far East Plaza take their trend cues from Japan (though with more down to earth prices) and are a mecca for the young and style conscious.
HOLLAND VILLAGE
Holland village is a microcosm of Singapore life, a mix between old and new - old coffee shops and hawker stalls jostle for space with ritzy new wine bars and restaurants. For a rustic shopping experience, visit Holland Village Shopping Center as it's a good place to hunt for crafts from the region.
TOA PAYOH
Toa Payoh is one of Singapore's oldest suburbs, which has recently received a new breath of life. With neighborhood shops surrounding a swanky new shopping mall adjoining the country's first air-conditioned bus terminal, anyone would feel spoilt for choice when shopping here. These suburban shopping centres offer a surprisingly comprehensive range of items from branded to electronic goods at prices to delight the value-conscious and determined bargain hunter.
Shopping here is a fascinating experience, providing insight into the local lifestyle and a chance to mingle with Singaporeans at their most comfortable. You also reap another benefit - the opportunity to tuck in "local style" at the numerous food centres and informal coffee shops.
MUSTAFA CENTRE
Shopping in Little India can be a colourful experience. With bangles, silk saris, peacock feathers, garlands, freshly-ground herbs and spices and elaborate jewellery. Amongst all these is Mustafa Centre, a twenty-four hours emporium-cum-department-store-cum Aladdin's cave. Don't be deceived by the relatively modest exterior - inside you'll find floor after floor selling every conceivable item at some of the lowest fixed prices in Singapore.
